About Us

We're here to help you feel empowered with gear that moves with your body, not against it.

Powerful apparel for powerful women

We wanted to make the activewear that our community felt was missing. So instead of guessing, we asked.

We interviewed over 60 women to understand their frustrations with their activewear, and asked them to rigorously test our garments for flaws or areas of improvement. For us, it was a non-negotiable that our activewear was tested in sizes XS-3XL, to ensure that the fit and performance was perfect across the board. Whether you've been training for a few months, haven't started your journey yet, or martial arts is a massive part of your life, when you're wearing Wicked Rose, you can move with full confidence.

We are proud to say that all of our clothing is made in Vancouver, BC, in a women-owned manufacturing company only 45 minutes away from Wicked Rose HQ. We had to do a lot of digging to find a manufacturer that met our standards for top-notch production quality and ethical working conditions, so we were very excited when we found one we're really proud of. The best part is that we're able to visit our manufacturer anytime, and be incredibly hands-on throughout the manufacturing and design process.

Your orders are shipped in 100% compostable packaging (made of corn!) from Noissue and our plantable clothing tags are from Botanical Paperworks. The tissue paper and stickers that your order comes wrapped in are FSC certified and printed with soy-based inks which are completely acid-free.

Once you receive your order you can plant your clothing tags to grow wildflowers!🌺 Simply grab a small cup or pot, fill it with planting soil, bury your tag just below the surface of the soil (⅛” deep), place your pot in a sunny spot, and watch your wildflowers grow! You can throw your compostable packaging in the compost bin and the tissue paper in the recycling bin.

Visit Botanical Paperworks for full instructions on caring for your growing plants!

*We're only able to include plantable tags with our Canadian orders right now, due to import laws on seeds outside of Canada.

Where we're heading

We know that the textile industry is inherently wasteful and detrimental to the environment. In reconciling with this, we are doing everything in our power to make as small an impact as possible.

We aim to make big, bold moves with our production, to a point where circularity and sustainability are embedded into every stage of the business - from materials, to labour, packaging, shipping and beyond. We know that we aren’t perfect, but we're working to make the changes we can to improve our environmental and social impact.

If you know of any innovative solutions, materials or manufacturers that are making a positive impact that you think we should know about, shoot us an email at christina@wickedrose.com and let us know. We are always trying to improve our business and we welcome any helping hands along the way!

We're Rewriting History

Although today there are a growing number of women in martial arts, the gym is still a relatively new space for us. The first women's fight in the UFC was in 2013, and they launched in 1993. The first women's Olympic boxing match was in 2012, and the first men's match was in 1905.

It took them 108 YEARS to let women box in the Olympics.

While it's becoming more acceptable for women to enter male-dominated martial arts gyms, there is still an alarming gap when it comes to activewear made specifically for women in martial arts.

We're here to close that gap, and make our mark on the mat.

When it comes to our values, we believe in being transparent and telling it like it is. We don't just talk the talk - we walk the walk! We've got a zero-tolerance policy for any type of discrimination, whether it's based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or ability. We're big supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement, LGBTQIA+ rights, indigenous rights, sex workers, and equal opportunities for everyone. If you ever feel like we're not living up to these values, please let us know. We want to make sure that everyone feels welcome and we're always looking for ways to improve.

Hi! I'm Christina,

I've founded Wicked Rose, and I'm so happy you're here! I've been training Muay Thai for five years and martial arts is a massive part of my life. When I started Wicked Rose, I wanted to create something just for female martial artists, that listened to their needs, championed for them, and offered clothing that they're excited to wear . Wicked Rose should make you feel strong, capable, and resilient on and off the mat.

In March 2020, I realized that there were no clothing brands specifically for women in martial arts, even though they made up 35% of people in martial arts gyms. All of my friends were wearing men's or unisex gear to train, which was uncomfortable, distracting, and ill-fitting. Over the past few years, martial arts gyms have seen an influx of women. In response to this, gyms have created women’s only classes, and women’s self defense seminars, but the one thing that has really lagged behind has been women’s representation in our activewear. With Wicked Rose, I want to change that. I want women to feel like the priority, rather than an afterthought. We utilize unique solutions - built-in compression shorts, high waistbands, and elastic - that allow for freedom of movement without having to worry about wardrobe malfunctions.

Nearly every major activewear/clothing brand has been founded by men - lululemon, Nike, Gymshark, Alo Yoga, Aritzia, Victoria's Secret. An activewear brand for women that is founded by someone who understands their frustrations, needs, and wants is long overdue. Wicked Rose is that brand, and I'm so happy you're along for the ride.
